Why do I always get a cold sore in the same spot?
Mine shows up in the exact same place on my lip every time. Is that normal for cold sores, and does it mean anything about the nerve the HSV-1 sits in?

Welcome. The two things worth knowing early: it is very common, and it is far more preventable than most people realise.
Same here, mine always shows up on the lower left corner of my lip like it has a favorite spot. From what I understand the virus just settles into the nerve nearest to where it first got in, so it keeps coming back out the same door every time.
Mine always comes back on the exact same corner of my lower lip too, and from what I understand it's because the virus hangs out in the same nerve and travels back down the same path every time it flares up. Weirdly comforting to know I'm not the only one who can predict it to the millimeter.

Weirdly it helped me to know that, because now I can feel the tingle coming and at least I'm not caught off guard by it.
Mine too, always the right corner of my bottom lip, and from what I've read the virus basically sleeps in the same nerve pathway so it takes the same exit every time. Annoying, but at least you learn to spot that first tingle early and start whatever helps you right away.
