Anyone else feel the tingle and immediately cancel plans for the whole week?
I felt that familiar tingle on my lower lip this morning and before I even looked in the mirror I had already mentally cancelled a dinner on Thursday and a friend's birthday on Saturday. Nothing has even shown up yet, it might not even turn into anything, but my brain just goes straight to hiding mode. Does anyone else do this, and have you found a way to stop the panic before the sore actually appears? I feel like the anticipation is honestly worse than the sore itself most of the time.
Yes, and then I spend the whole week annoyed at myself for hiding when it turned out to be nothing half the time. I'm trying to learn to wait a day before I bail on everything, but that first tingle still hits like a panic button.
Thank you for sharing. For most people the biggest lever is daily sun protection on the lips, even on cloudy days.
Yes, I've done this so many times and honestly the canceling always ended up making me feel worse than the actual sore did. These days I try to only cancel the one or two things I truly can't face and keep the rest, imperfect as it is.
Oh yes, I've been that person, the tingle hits and suddenly I've got a "cold" for five days and nobody sees me. Honestly most people never even noticed, but the hiding felt safer than explaining, and I'm still working on that.
Oh yes, the second I feel that little buzz on my lip I start mentally rewriting my calendar, even for stuff nobody would notice. I'm slowly learning that hiding for a week costs me more than the sore ever does, but honestly I still do it sometimes.
