Does anyone else feel like they can't kiss their kids when one is coming on?
My daughter is three and she has no idea why mum suddenly turns her cheek and offers a hug instead, and honestly it breaks my heart a little every time. I know the sensible thing is to keep my distance until it's fully healed, but a week of dodging goodnight kisses feels so long when she keeps asking what's wrong with my lip. How do other parents handle this without making it a big scary thing for the little ones?
Really glad you posted this. Prevention over treatment is the shift that helped me most, and it sounds like you are already there.
Yes, completely, and it feels awful when they run up for a goodnight kiss and I have to turn my cheek and do a forehead kiss instead. I've started calling it "nose boops week" so my little one thinks it's a game, but honestly I still feel guilty every single time.
Down to about two a year now, prevention genuinely works.
I keep a balm in every pocket now, it really does help.
Yes, completely. My daughter used to lean in for a goodnight kiss and I'd turn my cheek and pretend it was a game, but honestly it broke my heart a little every time.
