Which SPF lip balm do you use to help avoid sun triggered cold sores?
Every summer my lips get chapped and I notice a fever blister shows up after a long day outdoors, so I am trying to be more consistent with lip SPF. I picked up a new drugstore balm this week and I am curious what other people here actually stick with. Do you go for SPF 30 or SPF 50, and does the texture matter for reapplying? I would love to hear what has worked as part of your daily routine.
I keep an SPF 50 stick in my pocket and reapply every couple of hours when I am outside, and honestly the reapplying habit mattered more than the brand for me.
Mineral based ones with zinc feel thicker but they stay on longer for me, especially on windy days when my lips get really chapped.
I pair a lip SPF with lysine in my daily routine and keep my abreva in the drawer just in case, but everyone is different so it is worth asking your pharmacist what suits you.
