The tingle window

The first 24 hours matter more than any cream. Here is why.

What the tingle is

That itch, tingle, or tightness before anything is visible is the prodrome. The virus has reactivated and is travelling to the surface, but no blister has formed yet. This is your window.

Act early, gently

In the first day, keep the area cool, keep it protected with a clean barrier, and do not pick or stretch the skin. Once a blister has fully formed the outbreak largely runs its own course, so early, calm care is far more useful than anything you do on day three.

Prevention still wins

The best tingle window is the one that never opens. Blocking triggers, especially UV, means the reactivation often does not start at all.
