New here, what should I know first?

Just joined after years of dealing with this quietly. What are the first things you would tell someone who is trying to get on top of it?

This is exactly the kind of thing the community is for. Small consistent habits beat any single fix, in my experience.

Honestly the biggest thing I wish someone had told me early on is to learn your own warning signs, that little tingle or itch shows up before anything else and catching it there makes such a difference. Also be gentle with yourself, so many of us have this and it took me way too long to stop feeling embarrassed about it.

Welcome, honestly the biggest thing I wish someone had told me early on was that stress and sun are my two big triggers, so I now just keep an eye on both instead of feeling blindsided every time. Also, you're not gross or broken, most of us have been dealing with this quietly for years and it gets a lot easier once you learn your own patterns.

Welcome! Honestly the thing that helped me most was learning my own triggers, for me it was sun and lack of sleep, and once I saw the pattern I could actually get ahead of it instead of just reacting every time.

Welcome, glad you found this place. The thing I wish someone had told me early on is that the tingle stage is your window, so keep whatever works for you within reach and be gentle with yourself when one shows up anyway.

Welcome, glad you found us. The biggest thing I wish someone had told me early on is to learn your own triggers, for me it was sun and wind on ski days, because once I could see one coming I stopped feeling so blindsided by it.
