Anyone else dread the first warm weekend of the year?

Every spring the first proper sunny day outside ends the same way for me, a tingle by Sunday night and a full blister by Tuesday. I know it is the sun but I still forget every single time because I am just so happy to be outdoors. Do you guys actually plan ahead for this, or am I the only one who has to relearn it annually?

Oh absolutely, I catch myself checking my lip in the mirror before the first real sunny day like it's going to betray me. Took me years to figure out the sun was my trigger and now I just plan for it instead of panicking.

For me the tingle gives me a few hours of warning at most.

Founder here, thank you for opening this up. The pattern I keep coming back to is protection before anything shows: mineral SPF on the lips every morning, sleep protected, wind and cold kept off. Small daily habits move the needle far more than reacting after the fact.

Ha, yes, every year I get so excited about the sun and then I'm the one sitting in the shade at the barbecue with a hat pulled down like a weirdo because I know what happens by Monday if I don't.

Yes, honestly, that first sunny Saturday used to stress me out more than it excited me because I just knew my lip would tingle by Sunday night. What finally helped me was sort of making peace with it and being prepared instead of hoping it wouldn't happen, but I still feel that little dread every spring.

Yes, every year I tell myself I'm ready and then that first sunny Saturday out on the trail I feel that tingle and my heart sinks a little. Now I just keep something on my lips from the moment I leave the house and honestly that took most of the dread out of it for me.

Yes, every single year. I know the sun is coming, I know what it does to me, and somehow I still end up outside all afternoon with nothing on my lips and then spend the next week hiding behind my coffee cup.

Protecting my lips before skiing changed everything for me.
