Anyone else break out right after a big trip instead of during it?

SunnyRiver69 · 14d ago · 9 upvotes
I just got back from a week of hiking and felt totally fine the whole time, then two days after I got home a cold sore showed up out of nowhere. It happens almost every time, like my body waits until I finally relax to let go. Is this a real pattern for other people or am I just noticing a coincidence? Curious if anyone has figured out what to do in those first days home.

Yes, every single time, it's like my body holds it together while I'm running on adrenaline and then the second I'm home and unpacked it decides now is the moment. I've started giving myself a really boring quiet day right after I get back and honestly it helps more than I expected.

Welcome. The two things worth knowing early: it is very common, and it is far more preventable than most people realise.

Yes, every single time, it's like my body holds it together for the whole trip and then falls apart the second I'm back home unpacking. I've started planning a really boring recovery day after travel and honestly it seems to help a little.

Yes, every time, I swear my body waits until I'm home and unpacked before it decides to let go, and then the tingle shows up like a souvenir I never asked for. I've kind of made peace with it and now just plan a quiet couple of days after any big adventure.

Winter is worse for me too, the cold cracks my lips first.
