For me the biggest difference was sleep and stress, once I stopped pulling late nights my flare ups became a lot rarer. I also keep a lysine supplement in my routine, though it is worth checking with a pharmacist first.
Sun is a huge trigger for my lips, so I never leave the house without an SPF lip balm, especially in summer or on the slopes. Keeping my lips from getting chapped and cracked seems to help too.
Staying hydrated, eating balanced meals, and not sharing cups or lip products with anyone has helped me a lot. I also toss my toothbrush after an outbreak and try not to touch my face when I feel a tingle coming on.
Mine kept coming back too until I started actually sleeping and taking lysine every day instead of only when I felt one starting, and honestly that combo has made a bigger difference than anything else I tried.
