For me the biggest change was wearing spf lip balm every single day, even in winter, because sun exposure was my main trigger and I did not realize it for years.
Sleep and stress management did more for me than anything topical. Once I stopped pulling late nights the frequency dropped a lot, and I keep lysine in my routine as part of a general wellness approach.
Pay attention to what happens right before each one shows up and write it down. I found that windburn and dry, chapped lips were almost always the start, so I keep my lips moisturized and cover up when it is cold or windy.
Mine used to flare every single ski trip until I finally started treating lips like skin and covering them before I went out, not after the tingle showed up. Sleep and not skipping meals made a bigger difference than I ever expected too, honestly.
